Wellington Landings Middle School Girls Soccer team wins School District Final
Boca Raton- On March 30th, 2012, Wellington Landings Middle School Lady Gators beat Don Estridge Middle School in the Palm Beach County School DIstrict Championship game. The Lady Gators went 9-1 in the regular season earning a first round bye in the playoffs. Wellington then hosted Jupiter in the second round defeating them at home in Wellington 2-1. In the semi-finals the Lady Gators faced Duncan Middle school and after a 1-1 tie in regulation, the game was decided in Penalty kicks with Wellington coming out on top 4-3. With Wellington Landings representing the North County Champions and Don Estridge Middle representing the South County Champions the stage was set in Boca Raton for a hard fought match. After a quick Wellington Landings goal in the first half by Lauryn Auger (U12 Wave) Landings was up 1-0. Late in the game Don Estridge Dragons scored sending the game to penalty kicks once again. Wave U13 girls Sam Grebinar, Brittney Oh, and Juliet Fern along with Wave U12 Lauryn Auger all made their kicks to defeat Don Estridge 4-2 in and take home the County Championship. The Wellington Landings team is made up primarily of Wellington Wave Players. In addition to the players named the following Wave players contributed to the winning season, U12 players: Juliana Uloa, Alli Rehr, Alexa Kovi,and Katrina Calkins. U13 girls: Kayla O'Reilly, Brooke Mucino, Olivia Mattessich, and Megan Cebollero. U14 Girls: Abigail Ebersole and Kelly Cuthbertson.
