The Wellington Wave Soccer Club is committed to promoting our kids. As such, each season the club schedules a number of programs and events including its college information night which is a one on one meeting with their head coach and technical director. A detailed plan will be outlined to the player which will cover player development, scholastics, league and state cup play. Also, our DOC will strategically plan which of several prominent showcase tournaments throughout the country we will attend in order to allow players the opportunity to showcase their talents for college coaches.
The bulk of the responsibility for getting into college rests in this order: Player, Parents, and then Club. Getting our players ready to play college soccer is a collaborative effort. While Wellington Soccer Club will serve as a vehicle for a player to display their talents, it is the efforts of the Player that should the prominent role.
Prior to a player’s sophomore year in high school, the player’s sole focus should be on development of his or her talent, skills, aptitude for the game and work ethic. However, academics should be paramount.
